LMS integrations Canvas, Brightspace, Moodle, Schoology and Blackboard

Use NurseKind from inside your LMS

Import a course, open NurseKind from the course, add assignments without leaving the LMS, sync the class list, and send scores to the grade book. Your school turns each one on.

01 What it does

Five connections to your LMS

Course import

Import a course instead of retyping it

Faculty import a course they teach from Canvas or Brightspace, with a preview before anything is created. Importing again doesn't duplicate assignments.

Launch

Students click a link in the course

They land in NurseKind, in the right course. Faculty still sign in normally with two-step verification.

Add from the LMS

Pick assignments without leaving the course

NurseKind creates the student link and, if the LMS wants one, the grade column.

Class list

Sync the roster, and check it first

Faculty preview the class list and choose who gets a new account. New accounts are only created at the email domains your school allows.

Grade book

Scores go to your LMS grade book

When a student opens an assignment from the LMS link, the score goes to the grade book as a percentage out of 100. A faculty adjustment sends it again. Group assessments and Practice don't send scores, and linked assignments run on the website, not in the phone apps.

02 Setup

Who does what

Your LMS admin

Registers NurseKind in your LMS

For Brightspace import, also creates a read-only app and tells us which Brightspace roles are instructors and which are students.

NurseKind

Turns each feature on for your school

All of them are off until you ask. We set up the first connection with your LMS admin.

Your faculty

Connect once, then work normally

Faculty connect Brightspace once to import and sign in to NurseKind normally for everything else. Students click the link in their course.

03 Data and security

What it reads and what it writes

Imports are read-only. NurseKind writes two things to your LMS: scores, and the grade column when faculty add an assignment from inside it.

Only an instructor of a Brightspace course can import it, using their own sign-in. We don't store Brightspace passwords. The connection is encrypted, removed when the import finishes, and ended for everyone if your school turns the feature off.

Imported course lists are education records under FERPA. Every roster read or import is logged with counts, not student data. If your school is a HIPAA covered entity, grades aren't sent to your LMS.

04 Where it stands

What's new

We run the first connection with your LMS admin on a test course before any student uses it.

05 FAQ

LMS questions

NurseKind works with Canvas, Brightspace, Moodle, Schoology and Blackboard. Each supports launching from the course, adding assignments from inside the LMS, class-list sync and scores to the grade book. Canvas and Brightspace also have course import. Your school turns on what it wants, and we set it up with your LMS admin.
Imports only read. NurseKind writes scores to the grade book, and a grade column when faculty add an assignment from inside the LMS. Nothing else.
Scores for assignments students open from the LMS link, as a percentage out of 100. A faculty adjustment sends the score again. Group assessments and Practice don't send scores. If your school is a HIPAA covered entity, grades aren't sent.
Only an instructor of that course, using their own Brightspace sign-in. Teaching assistants and other roles are not imported as students.
Students can edit their email in Brightspace, so an existing account is never matched on it alone. Faculty enroll them in one click. New accounts are created only for people the instructor selects, at your school's allowed email domains.
Tell us which LMS you use. We turn on what your school wants and set up the first connection with your LMS admin on a test course.
